Peter Tomarken, 1942 – 2006

Life is short. One day you’re alive and well, the next day you’re not.

Peter Tomarken, best known for his work as the host of the classic ’80s game show Press Your Luck, is dead at the age of 63 after the single-engine plane he was in crashed in the Santa Monica Bay.

The weirdest thing about all this was that I’d heard the news on the radio of the plane crash early in the morning, but it wasn’t until 4:00 in the afternoon when KFI confirmed that it was Tomarken and his wife that had been killed.

It’s a very sad day for us in the game show fandom. Condolences go out to the surviving members of Tomarken’s family and his close friends. A shame that he was killed while en route to pick up a medical patient in San Diego for treatment at UCLA. We’ll miss you, Peter.
