Can anyone explain to me exactly why when I try to search for something in the Firefox search field, I get my results from some search engine called “Yanga” and not Google?

First thing to check: next to the search field, on the left, do you have a little downward-pointing arrow and the traditional Google capital G? If not, try clicking on the downward arrow and selecting which search engine to use. If, even after doing that, you’re not getting the search engine you chose, it would look to me like you’ve got some sort of malware having installed itself on your machine which is overriding your search engine preference. Sorry, dude. (I’d recommend AdAware and Spybot Search and Destroy.)
